RAF Leuchars Airshow Practice Day, Friday 14th September 2012:

The UK RAF’s Boeing E-3D Sentry AEW1 has been a regular visitor to the Leuchars Airshow since I first attended in 2000. However, it’s always been on static display, and its only airborne appearance was a very brief “touch-and-go” flyby at the 2008 show.  So it was great to have a full Sentry display routine at this year’s show.

The aircraft on display is ZH102 of 8 Squadron, based at RAF Waddington. ZH102 arrived at Leuchars at 1504, and took off again at 1543 for a full rehearsal of its display routine.

The Sentry puts on a great display- a large aircraft banking at low level is always an impressive sight.
